Cannot access WAP (TNZ CDMA)
From New Zealand Connections
Introduction
WAP in laymen's terms is internet for your mobile. It uses the mobile network to deliver specially formatted pages to your mobile. On the Telecom network, you are able to access the Xtra website free of charge.
When you cannot access WAP, there are a few things that you can do first.
Reasons
There are usually several reasons why WAP doesn't work these are:
- Coverage
- Credit (prepaid only)
- Restarting handset.
Steps
We are only going to cover the basic steps.
- Coverage:To determine coverage - usually looking in the top left or right hand corner will reveal a signal meter. If you have no signal on that meter, you will most likely experience issues.
- If you have a prepaid connection, check your balance by calling *333. Try to have at least $1 credit.
- The next step is to restart your phone. This is fairly simple, remove the battery. Leave it 30 seconds. Replace the battery and try connecting.
At this point, there is nothing more that you can do short of calling the mobile data support contact centre or seeing a dealer. There are a number of possibilities such as bars, network, handset issues which need to be looked at.
Useful information that you can provide is whether it has always not worked, did anything change before it happened (ie. changing phones) and whether you've tried it in different locations.
