History

NZ Connections, a wiki covering in depth topics about NZ Connectivity, was founded approximately on the 14th of November, 2007, and was the brainchild of cokemaster.

Founder

cokemaster kicked off NZ Connections approximately on the 14th of November, 2007, by notifying its existence to several members of the Geekzone community, members that he thought had something to contribute due to their Geekzone contributions. cokemaster is responsible for the initial and continuing setup and funding of the site, and currently responsible for maintaining and upgrading the wiki software and server. Much of the work done by cokemaster is done behind the scenes, such as the NZ Connections 'beta' site, where new applications are tested first before implementing on the production site, and regular backups.

Administrators

Since being founded, there has been many contributions by many members of the community, but two have stood out as major contributors, not just adding information but also contributing to the design and functionality of the wiki. As a result of their substantial contributions and participation during the early stages of the site, these two contributors have been given 'Sysop' and 'Bureaucrat' status, meaning they now have system and moderation privileges.

They are:

TheBartender, was one of the original Geekzone community members invited by cokemaster to contribute to the site. TheBartender was asked to participate due to his regular Geekzone contributions relating to ISP's and broadband. As a result, TheBartender was the first major contributor, setting the layout of the main pages and links within the wiki, creating templates for the pages, and creating the comparison tables. Since then, TheBartender has continuously added more providers and plans, technologies, help links and continues to work with cokemaster and manhinli to perfect the site and add extra functionality.

manhinli was invited to join the project at TheBartender's request approximately one week later. Due to the site only being know to a select few, the site in the first week was much the work of just TheBartender and cokemaster, so TheBartender posted a thread in the Geekzone forums to drum up support for the site and find additional contributors. This lead to manhinli checking out the site and making several major contributions. Since then, manhinli has contributed extensively to the plans and providers, and tarting up the appearance of the site, but his real contribution has been in his programming skills, helping to add new functionality to the site and cleaning up code where required. manhinli continues to work with cokemaster and TheBartender to perfect the site and add extra functionality.
