Since turning on Interleaving, my DSL connection has issues

Interleaving or the lack of, is popular between gamers as it provides a means to reduce latency, at the expense of reducing range and increasing packet loss. A few Internet providers such as WorldxChange, Slingshot and Orcon offer interleaving to be disabled. The Waikato Linux Users Group has an interesting article on the topic.

Users of VoIP may find benefits from disabling it, however for non time sensitive applications such as email, downloading and web broading there are little benefits.

The same rule of thumb applies with DSL issues is to check your equipment.

  • Make sure your filters are ok.
  • Make sure you don't have more than 3 jackpoints
  • Was the connection working fine previously?

If your connection was working fine previously, you may need to revert back. But it is best to contact your provider for any specific troubleshooting they may provide.
