Telecom Broadband (ADSL) settings
From New Zealand Connections
If you have a Telecom provided D-Link or Thompson ADSL Modem/Router, resetting it to factory settings is now all you have to do to fully complete the broadband connection.
Previously, all ADSL Modem/Routers connected to the Telecom network had to have a valid current Xtra broadband customers user name and unique password before the internet connection would be completed, but now the authentication method has changed and it is sufficient to have only the user name field completed, the password can be left blank.
With the Xtra D-Link routers, they often came with a CD-ROM that will allow you to update the modem settings automatically when registering or if you've changed or reset the modem. However the factory defaults after a reset will have the "xtragames" preloaded as a user name and it is no longer necessary to make any further changes, the modem will connect.
If you have a non-Telecom provided ADSL Modem/Router, or you have flashed your Telecom router with a different firmware and you'd like to manually enter the login details, access your Modems HTML interface as normal and enter the following details
Username: busrestore.xadsl@xtra.co.nz
Password: leave this field blank
Connection type: PPPoA VC-Mux
VPI: 0
VCI: 100
WAN Setting: PPPoE/PPPoA
IP control should be set to Dynamic.
You can find more information about the settings on the Telecom help site.
The newer Thompson ADSL Modem/Routers have these same settings and they work as soon as they're plugged in without any user intervention. If your Thompson Router has wireless, the preloaded WPA security key is provided on a sticker underneath the router.
